This 10-day private tour is the most complete Sri Lanka journey Proudy Lanka Tours offers — spanning eight distinct regions with extraordinary diversity at every turn. Two full days in Sigiriya give you the time to savour the UNESCO rock fortress, Pidurangala’s sunrise view, Dambulla’s golden caves, an Ayurvedic massage and a village tour. Welcome at Bandaranaike International Airport — private A/C transfer north to Sigiriya (~4.5 hours)
Sigiriya Rock Fortress (UNESCO, 5th century) — climb 200m through royal water gardens, cloud maiden frescoes and mirror wall to the summit palace ruins with spectacular panoramic views
Pidurangala Rock — the alternative summit directly opposite Sigiriya offering the best wide-angle view of Sigiriya Rock itself; most dramatic at sunrise (5:30am) or golden hour
💡 TipIf you arrive early enough, attempt Pidurangala Rock late afternoon on Day 1 for the golden hour view of Sigiriya. If you arrive late, do Pidurangala at 5:30am on Day 2 before Sigiriya opens. Either way, this view is one of the most extraordinary in Asia.

💡 TipThe Royal Post Office in Nuwara Eliya is a wonderfully atmospheric colonial building — post a letter or card home for a unique keepsake. For the tea factory, morning visits are best when production is fully active. Combine Seetha Amman Kovil and Hanuman Temple together as they are close to each other on the highland road.

Nine Arch Bridge, Ella Rock & Highland Adventures
Nine Arches Bridge (Demodara) — Sri Lanka’s most iconic railway viaduct; 91m long, built entirely from stone and brick in 1921; best viewed from the tea estate path above the bridge
Little Adam’s Peak — an accessible tea estate hike (~1.5 hours return) with breathtaking views of Ella Valley; suitable for all fitness levels
Flying Ravana Mega Zipline — Sri Lanka’s most thrilling zipline experience at Ella, soaring over the spectacular Ella Gap valley at speeds up to 80km/h; one of Asia’s top ziplines
Ravana Waterfall — a dramatic cascade tumbling over ancient rock faces near Ella town; accessible from the main road
Ella Rock — the most rewarding hike in Ella (~3–4 hours return); 360° panoramic views over the Ella Gap, Highland Valley and distant Indian Ocean
💡 TipThe Flying Ravana Mega Zipline is the most thrilling activity in the entire highlands — book it online in advance as slots fill up fast. Time the Nine Arch Bridge visit for 8:30–9am or 3:30–4pm when trains cross most frequently. Ella Rock is best at sunrise — start at 5:30am for the most spectacular lighting.

Hidden Waterfalls, Colonial Bungalow & Tea Panorama
Diyaluma Falls — Sri Lanka’s second-highest waterfall at 220m; a spectacular single-drop cascade with natural rock pools at the base for swimming; entirely off the main tourist trail
Bambarakanda Falls — Sri Lanka’s tallest waterfall at 263m; a dramatic single-strand cascade visible from the road, surrounded by pine forests and mist
Adisham Bungalow — a beautiful Tudor-style colonial bungalow built in 1931 by Sir Thomas Villiers; now a Benedictine monastery perched on the Haputale ridge with extraordinary views; the gardens and jam room are open to visitors
Lipton’s Seat — the legendary hilltop viewpoint at 1,970m used by Sir Thomas Lipton to survey his tea estates; on a clear morning, a full 360° panorama of tea estates, valleys, mountains and the southern coast
💡 TipLipton’s Seat is best visited very early morning (6–7am) before clouds gather — by 9am the panoramic views can disappear completely. Drive up to the seat rather than hiking if time is limited. Diyaluma Falls is best reached in the morning on the drive from Ella to Haputale — the light is perfect and the pools for swimming are refreshing.

Haputale → Bentota
Highland to Coast & Bentota Beach Day
Scenic drive from Haputale highlands to Bentota on the Indian Ocean coast (~4 hours via the southern expressway)
Arrive Bentota — Sri Lanka’s premier west-coast beach resort; check into your oceanfront hotel
Visit Bentota Beach — a long, golden stretch of protected Indian Ocean beach with calm lagoon waters
Madu Ganga River boat safari (~1.5 hours) — glide through the UNESCO-listed Madu Ganga wetland ecosystem; 64 mangrove islands teeming with monitor lizards, water birds and rare orchids
Visit the Buddhist temple island and fish market island accessible only by boat within the Madu Ganga
Evening: sunset stroll on the beach and fresh seafood dinner
💡 TipThe Madu Ganga safari is far more tranquil and biodiverse than the Bentota River — do this on Day 7 (arrival day) when you have energy. The drive from Haputale is spectacular — ask your driver to stop at a hilltop tea estate viewpoint on the way down to the coast.

Kosgoda Sea Turtle Hatchery — an ethical conservation centre protecting all five Sri Lanka sea turtle species; see hatchlings and if timed right at sunset, watch baby turtles released into the Indian Ocean
Water sports in Bentota — jet skiing, banana boat, windsurfing, wake boarding or kayaking on the calm Bentota lagoon (charged separately)
Go shopping for souvenirs — Bentota’s beachside shops and the nearby Aluthgama market offer handloom fabrics, lacquer work, Ceylon tea, spices and cinnamon at good prices
Afternoon at leisure — swim in the warm Indian Ocean, enjoy an Ayurvedic spa treatment at the resort, or simply relax in a beach hammock
Farewell beach dinner — fresh seafood at a Bentota beachside restaurant
💡 TipTime the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery for 5:30–6:30pm for the best chance of seeing baby turtles released into the ocean at sunset — the most moving experience of the entire beach days. For water sports, morning conditions are calmer. The Aluthgama market (5 mins north of Bentota) has the best cinnamon and pepper in Sri Lanka.

Drive to Colombo (~2 hours via coastal expressway)
Colombo National Museum — Sri Lanka’s finest museum with 2,500 years of island civilisation; royal regalia, ancient sculptures, colonial artefacts and natural history
Gangaramaya Temple (Gangarama Viharaya) — one of Colombo’s most revered and eclectic Buddhist temples; the extraordinary museum contains vintage cars, elephant tusks, Buddha statues and thousands of unique donations
Independence Square — Sri Lanka’s iconic monument of nationhood set in manicured colonial gardens
Lotus Tower (Nelum Kuluna) — Sri Lanka’s tallest structure at 350m; the observation deck offers breathtaking 360° views over Colombo and the Indian Ocean
