This 5-day private tour takes you through the heart of Sri Lanka — from the baby elephants of Pinnawala and the sacred temples of Kandy, through the misty tea highlands of Nuwara Eliya, down to the golden Indian Ocean beaches of Bentota. You’ll experience a thrilling white water rafting adventure, glide through ancient mangrove lagoons on a river safari, watch baby sea turtles enter the ocean for the first time, and finish with world-class water sports on Bentota’s calm beach. Welcome at Bandaranaike International Airport, Negombo — private A/C transfer
En route: Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage — watch elephant families bathe in the Maha Oya River
Arrive Kandy: Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Dalada Maligawa) — Sri Lanka’s most sacred Buddhist shrine
Stroll around beautiful Kandy Lake — the man-made reservoir at the heart of the city

💡 TipThe Peradeniya Botanical Gardens are at their most colourful early morning — visit before 9am to enjoy the gardens in peace before tour groups arrive. At the tea factory, ask to try different grades of tea — the contrast between dust, BOPF and orange pekoe is fascinating.

White water rafting on the Kelani River at Kitulgala (Grade 2–3) — adrenaline meets spectacular jungle gorge scenery
Afternoon at leisure — explore Nuwara Eliya town, visit the colonial Hill Club, or relax at your highland hotel
💡 TipThe Kitulgala white water rafting is suitable for beginners and non-swimmers (life jackets provided). The 2-hour rafting experience through the jungle gorge is one of Sri Lanka’s best adventure activities — highly recommended. Book via your driver guide the evening before.

Turtle Hatchery, River Safari & Water Sports
Drive south from the highlands to Sri Lanka’s premier beach resort — Bentota (~3 hours)
Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery — ethical sea turtle conservation centre; see nesting turtles, eggs and baby hatchlings
Madu River mangrove boat safari — glide through ancient lagoon ecosystems, spot monitor lizards, water birds and visit a cinnamon island
Water sports at Bentota Beach — choose from jet skiing, banana boat, windsurfing, wake boarding or kayaking
Evening: sunset stroll on Bentota’s golden beach; fresh seafood dinner at a beachside restaurant
💡 TipThe Madu River boat safari runs about 1.5 hours and is the most peaceful, wildlife-rich experience on this tour — don’t skip it! At the Turtle Hatchery, visit in the late afternoon when staff release baby turtles into the sea — a magical, emotional moment.

Beach Leisure & Departure
Morning at leisure — final swim in the Indian Ocean, breakfast on the beach terrace

Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo (~2.5 hours from Bentota)

💡 TipAllow at least 2.5–3 hours from Bentota to Colombo airport, and 3 hours if stopping at Galle Fort. Check your flight time carefully and plan your morning accordingly. The Bentota expressway entry cuts the journey significantly — your driver will know the best route.
